Family Christmas Party WrapUp

Family Christmas Party WrapUp

Our Family Christmas Party was a huge success. Thank you to everyone who participated and supported this event and those who generously donated gifts in advance, too! Here’s a little wrap up of the event and the amazing memories that were created this holiday season.

Back in the summer, I was inspired by a little boy, one of my favourite little babyccino loving customers, who had spent weeks at McMaster Children’s Hospital’s ICU in the springtime being treated for bacterial meningitis. His mama, Christine (who is also our lovely photographer) had been sharing stories of ICU life, the fears, the loneliness, how strange it was to feel like time had just stopped for her family and yet the rest of the world kept on going. As a mama, my heart broke for her and her little boy as they lived the ICU life, spending days in the hospital and later navigating the world of hearing loss and cochlear implants (follow Christine on Instagram at @paperplanesandpeaches for more on her family’s story).

With the Christmas season approaching, I knew we needed to do something to help other local families who were spending Christmas Day in the hospital with their littles.

So, Christine and I put our heads together and came up with this special free event for families. A visit with Santa, holiday crafting, family time in our play area. And we asked families to bring a gift to donate to children who were spending Christmas in the hospital.

We were blown away by the response. We saw 50 families flood through our doors on Saturday morning!

We were so honoured and humbled by the generosity of our community. We delivered this mountain of toys (this photo is not even half of it) to McMaster Children’s Hospital immediately after the event. Staff and volunteers were amazed to see us completely fill this hospital cart with gifts.

We are so thankful to everyone in our community who helped to make this event a success and for helping us to deliver a little extra love and kindness to these families.
